How to set up a conversion funnel

TL;DR: A useful funnel is short, named after a real goal, and built from reliable pages/events. Read drop-off to decide whether the problem is traffic quality or product friction.
Glossary: what is a conversion funnel?. Product docs: funnels.
Step by step
1. Write the goal in one sentence
Example: "Visitor becomes a paid customer" or "Visitor books a demo."
2. List 3–5 ordered steps
Landing → signup → activated → paid is enough for most SaaS. Delete steps you cannot instrument cleanly.
3. Instrument missing events
If a step is not a pageview, add an event. Custom events guide.
4. Create the funnel in analytics
Configure the ordered steps in Reignat funnels and run a test conversion.
5. Act on the biggest drop-off
Fix copy, UX, or performance on the leaking step before buying more traffic. Check Core Web Vitals if the leak looks like load pain.

Frequently asked questions
What is the first step to building a funnel?
Define the single goal outcome — trial started, purchase, demo booked — then work backwards to the pages and events that must happen first.
Should funnel steps be pages or events?
Use pages for navigational steps and events for actions that do not change the URL. Mix them when needed.
Where do I configure funnels in Reignat?
In the project funnels UI. See the funnels documentation for step types and tips.
